Summary
Design products applying all aspects of digital and analog circuit design.
Coordinate, plan, control and document electronics design to ensure that customer expectations are met within the specified timelines with the required quality and environmental standards. Maintains regular contact with departmental managers to keep them apprised of project status' and initiates alternative solutions for issues are encountered on project delays, provides program managers with updated project plans to ensure that all parties have access to the most current plan. Maintains regular contact with external consultants and escalates issues when needed as it relates to the tasks assigned within the managed projects.

Transactional Related Duties
- Designs the electrical concepts associated with the electronics power system including but not limited to battery and charger solution requested by the customer. Properly defines all test parameters for electrical integrity of the products. Ensures that safety, quality, and environmental issues are considered and implemented.
- Plan, document, and provide design deliverables & status reports on each of the projects that are assigned by management. Ensure that questions are raised to provide clarity where needed on expectations on projects that are assigned before the project plan is developed and put into place.
- Monitor the performance and completion of all tasks as it relates to the initial defined timeframe that was assigned and given to the customer. Track actual completion date to this initial completion date. Status reports should reflect reasons why projects are completed within this timeframe and what initiatives are in place to ensure the date doesn't slip further.
- Strictly adheres to policies, procedures, and processes established by MicroSun, supporting efficiencies and improvements where applicable.
- Customer interface for technical issues and questions.
- Ensure that all policies and procedures as it relates to the Engineering department and tasks are strictly adhered to and where changes are needed to ensure control and increased efficiency, suggest alternatives and take initiative to rollout the required changes. Develops the BOM's, works with purchasing to identify alternative sourcing options, and creates all engineering related documentation.
- Monitor project status' and update project plans to accurately reflect current status. Update project status meetings to keep departmental managers informed of project status and potential delays. Initiate conversations when needed to address specific issues with projects to ensure that delays are minimized, regardless of internal/external related issues. Initiate conversations with external consultants to ensure that projects tasks are completed on-time.
- Responsible to ensure that assigned projects and status of projects are meeting the established standards in terms of turnaround time, design concepts, design cycle time, and quality of work and documentation.
- Develops processes that are repeatable and reliable for the projects going into production, working to minimize costs associated with materials and production build times. Work(s) directly with Production when building samples and prototypes to ensure that we are maximizing productivity. Ensures that products are built with safety, quality, and environmental issues in mind.
- Maintain contact with other departments to ensure that any project delays are known in advance. Identify alternatives to be pursued to minimize any delays to the original targeted implementation date.
- Enhance technical knowledge of new developments in engineering practices and developments to ensure that the company maintains its technical competitive position.
- Evaluate new component technologies for use in circuit designs.
- Lead hardware & firmware projects of moderate complexity. Direct the work of consultant & technicians in design & verification and validation activities.
- Support as needed new business & sustaining business in providing clarification for requirement and problem solving skills

Qualifications:
- Education/Experience - BSEE or BSEET with at least 3 to 5 year of experience.
- Customer Service - Pleasant approach, attitude, appearance, and follow through are requirements for this position.
- Computer Skills - Ability to use technology such as daily schedulers, project management tools, contact management software, excel, and email in order to efficiently handle the workflow and transactions generated.
- Skilled in application of design, hardware, circuitry applications and has demonstrated experience in implementing product concepts into real products.
- Knowledge of firmware & programming.
- Thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience in scientific method and electronics theory and application.
- Demonstrated experience with microcontroller technologies or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated design, test, and troubleshooting experience with analog and digital circuits and electronic test equipment.
- Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
- Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
